imagine a dungeon in a block game mmo where the boss for floors one to six are simple "kill enemy who runs around and hurts you" with some changes every floor, but the seventh and final floor throws in things like "platform for these crystals before dealing damage" and "complete small puzzles instead of attacking" without any of the prior floors introducing those mechanics, so the difficulty spike is super palpable lol. for reference floor six's boss room is three phases of "kill these guys, now these guys, now this one guy" where you can get past fairly easily by standing in the middle for most of the floor
